<strong>Opening Line:</strong> <em>"Screwing two guys doesn't make you a slut."</em> <br />
<br />
I was pretty excited to hear that Lorelei James’ was starting a new series because I’m seriously addicted to her Roughriders books and IMO you can‘t ever have enough sexy cowboys. I also have a small addiction to the PBR and CORRALLED is all about the bullriding and its fearless bullfighters. Throw in a ménage storyline (yes girls, two swaggering, ultra sexy cowboys) and in theory this book should have had all my guns a blazin’. Unfortunately, and I can’t put my finger on why, it just never grabbed me like her <em>Roughriders </em>series always does and I was surprised by how difficult it was for me to get into her new Blacktop Cowboys. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuf6pOjF7IUrN-qmepacEWiJGr4Tt0lTJ4QjbizECdXCgOjWfgyCYO_WqJOeI-SgTnE_uNfO6tIr5qmALiiWRQcqcWMWwA078-M3niQGMsw-ICqI_KED4yZ6mbBIcYjAj15Kd3FUcnmgc/s1600/corr.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuf6pOjF7IUrN-qmepacEWiJGr4Tt0lTJ4QjbizECdXCgOjWfgyCYO_WqJOeI-SgTnE_uNfO6tIr5qmALiiWRQcqcWMWwA078-M3niQGMsw-ICqI_KED4yZ6mbBIcYjAj15Kd3FUcnmgc/s1600/corr.bmp" gda="true" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: currentColor;">
One of the problems for me was the rodeo jargon, I kept forgetting what EBS and CRA stood for and these acronyms were used <u>a lot.</u> I also felt like I’d read this before as the storyline is very reminiscent of her first Roughriders book <span style="color: black;"><em>Long Hard Ride</em></span> leaving me with a feeling of déjà vu for the entire read. </div>
<br />
<em>“As much as Hank loved bullfighting in the CRA, for a bullfighter, the EBS was the big time.” </em><br />
<em></em><br />
<br />
If you’ve read anything else by Lorelei James then you’ll know what to expect from this. Erotic love scenes (every couple of pages) including some rope play and just about everything else, emotion filled storylines, a couple of dustups at a local saloon and a whole slew of unique characters and situations to keep you interested. James’ writing is also really fun. I love the way her characters talk and usually come away with a southern drawl much to my Canadian families amusement. <br />
<br />
<div style="border: currentColor;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoDuakPpmEhmEt1lTWpJeKVWlB7ge5qEcda4JQUcquogECkPHNWJmpEMAZm37hV05JMlD8uvbOIRvs9TLngVE6VPQd7ywhEK8yXz8YxjGUOXwM_IjHbV54k3XRibzchVdHIhq_MUgKhcU/s1600/cow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoDuakPpmEhmEt1lTWpJeKVWlB7ge5qEcda4JQUcquogECkPHNWJmpEMAZm37hV05JMlD8uvbOIRvs9TLngVE6VPQd7ywhEK8yXz8YxjGUOXwM_IjHbV54k3XRibzchVdHIhq_MUgKhcU/s1600/cow.jpg" gda="true" /></a>Lainie Capshaw is a sports therapist, traveling the rodeo circuits and patching up injured cowboys. She’s made it a steadfast rule not to date anyone, keeping things strictly professional amongst her many admirers. So it’s with some surprise that she finds herself dating not one but two handsome cowboys; Hank Lawson a bullfighter and Kyle Gilchrist a bull rider. Despite never discussing exclusivity Lainie feels guilty but also doesn’t assume she’ll have to decide between them as they work on different circuits. Honestly she doesn’t know if she could choose anyways. </div>
<br />
Lainie’s two timing catches up with her one night at the local honky-tonk when Hank catches her with Kyle. To her surprise the two are childhood friends and since neither wants to bow down to the other they instead offer her a deal no horny cowgirl could refuse. They will all travel the CRA circuit together with Kyle and Hank taking care of Lanie's sexual needs until she makes up her mind which one of them she likes better. It sounds good until both men try to win her heart leaving Lainie hanging on for the full 8 seconds. What’s a girl to do?</div>

So with an opening paragraph like this you know you’re in for a fun ride and for the most part DROP DEAD GORGEOUS doesn’t disappoint. This is book 2 from Kimberly Raye’s sexy and hilarious <em>Love At First Bite</em> trilogy. Set in Skull Creek Texas these quickie romances follow the small town antics and love connections of some rather eccentric but completely likable women as they get their groove on and find true love with gorgeous Texan cowboys who also just happen to be Vampires.<br />

Now he’s back and better than ever, in fact except for whole burning to a crisp in the sun thingy and a small aversion to garlic, his new life rocks. This former nerdy computer tech’s been transformed into a hunka, hunka burning vampire love and every woman in town wants a piece of him.</div>

All Dillon wants to do is erase his geeky reputation and blaze a trail as the towns studliest guy, possibly even emerging #1 on the coveted "Randiest Rooster" list. But theres something about his old pal Meg he can’t refuse, she see’s past his new muscles and heartthrob status and damn if he hadn’t always thought she was irresistible anyways. Our couple engage in a cat and mouse game of who’s seducing who and of course lose their hearts in the process. <br />

<span style="color: black;">Although I didn’t enjoy this as much as <em>Dead Sexy</em> this</span> was still a good read. My only real problem being that geek heroes just don’t do it for me and regardless of his hot vampire makeover I never felt much of anything for Dillon. Even the love scenes (which are plenty spicy) didn’t work for me. But that’s just me. However the truly great thing about this series (besides the fact that it’s frigging hilarious) is the awesome cast of unconventional townsfolk and the crazy adventures they manage to get themselves into. Raye has written this in such an endearing, fun way that I find myself wanting to move to Skull Creek just so that I can spend Friday nights at Joe Bob’s Bar and Grill and buy my groceries at the local Piggly Wiggly. Not to mention the fact that I might bag myself a cowboy Vamp and make it onto the Gazette’s hot chicks list. Cheers</div>

<strong>Opening Line:</strong> <em>"Accidents ambush the unsuspecting, often violently, just like love."</em></div><div class="grey500BoxContent"><br />
I really liked this book and found myself absorbed in the world that Andrew Davidson has created. THE GARGOYLE is a multilayered tragedy within a love story and it will affect you on many different levels; horrific, sad and gruesome it is also complex, funny, thought provoking and redeeming. Unfortunately any summery you read won't really do it justice. <br />
<br />
THE GARGOYLE has been written in a first person narrative and although we never learn the narrator's name he is self-consciously and sometimes humorously aware that he's writing a book. We begin with our good looking and self absorbed narrator (N) driving his car while high on cocaine and with a bottle of bourbon between his legs. He subsequently starts hallucinating and to avoid the burning arrows flying at his car drives off the road. N's car flips several times and catches fire, burning him alive. The next half of the book takes place within the burn ward as N begins his long road to recovery. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdaVse_em1gCh_eubtGbPzUgF1CegrBNS32_esaAB4M2xvTGSiC07i2weqkAqJ4j0ZBcmTmfMIDj62LhdI6E7jBMAZSOYHXOjF-R1qV5EiVtBZTNEq0NqKuUUc_OROrX0vGVx1Rl_DnoY/s1600/gargoylee.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180px" qda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdaVse_em1gCh_eubtGbPzUgF1CegrBNS32_esaAB4M2xvTGSiC07i2weqkAqJ4j0ZBcmTmfMIDj62LhdI6E7jBMAZSOYHXOjF-R1qV5EiVtBZTNEq0NqKuUUc_OROrX0vGVx1Rl_DnoY/s320/gargoylee.bmp" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>The car accident and most of the burn ward scenes are detailed, horrific and at times hard to read but they're also so well written that you'll be able to smell the hospital and really feel N's pain and suffering. N has been burned so severely that he no longer resembles anything close to the gorgeous porn star that he once was and as he begins his therapy it's only in the detailed planning of his suicide that he's able to get through the day. The shots of morphine that silence the snake living in his spine help too but you'll have to read the book to understand that. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" qda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPiPqHLzmWbHT7AfzHvku63IcwvfgCqsadkx3Ai3bgWoBl-mCHdmBsBRrMJAKpFeC6E4e6lkhoA6k63uLTNmfJy1QAWpw4NiRRsqbvaCiZIx3e1Y0JyRGM7n5_ficIjxOLJoisbRIk6hw/s1600/ggargoule.jpg" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">One day a strange and wild woman known as Marianne Engel escapes from the psyche ward and sneaks into the burn unit. She proceeds to tell N that she has known him for 700 years, that he has been burned before and that they were once lovers in medieval Germany where she was a nun and he was a wounded solider. It doesn't matter if he can't remember; she tells him, she will prove it to him. And so begins Marianne's tales of their past lives. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCYOJS9XRepI0-568R9P3aESAWLImATMvfgs_eEkskeLVuK25NjdsK8O6UmtlN8gjdq39cZ6VF5US2lqpZY-Hi58o1AtsozNYW1FuAzHfTLtMlLDtAyrx-BxQ15OIcfyUc4_75mMiX9S8/s1600/gargoke.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" qda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCYOJS9XRepI0-568R9P3aESAWLImATMvfgs_eEkskeLVuK25NjdsK8O6UmtlN8gjdq39cZ6VF5US2lqpZY-Hi58o1AtsozNYW1FuAzHfTLtMlLDtAyrx-BxQ15OIcfyUc4_75mMiX9S8/s1600/gargoke.jpg" /></a>The book then begins to jump between time periods as Marianne Engel tells her life story which is set in the middle ages along with several other short stories about different tragic lovers. The flashbacks became my favourite parts of the book taking us to Germany, Japan, Italy and the Vikings of Iceland. The characters from these times are exquisitely interesting and the details of the era, amazing. The research Mr Davidson has put into this book is simply mind boggling. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">N doesn't believe Maryanne, concluding that she is schizophrenic, nonetheless he comes to rely on her and in their own way the two begin a relationship. Throughout Maryanne's storytelling and hospital visits she continues her lifetimes work, that of carving stone Gargoyles. Wow, with each instalment in the Roughriders series I keep saying this one is my absolute favourite; it just can’t get any better. Well I was sorely mistakin because James has outdone herself with #5 and this one really is the best yet (no really) Now I’m left lamely trying to put into words how friggin fantastic this story is. <br />
<br />
Ever since book #1 <em>Long Hard Ride</em> I’ve been wondering what happened to Trevor and Edgard and hoping for their story. I was curious as to how these delicious cowboys could get their HEA especially in a homophobic and generally not alternative lifestyle appreciating town like Sundance Wyoming. I never counted on a wife being involved but lucky, lucky Chassie Glanzer. She gets the lovin of two damn fine men here. And talking about fine men; if you’re a fan of M/M lovin then hang onto your cowboy hats because this is all kinds-of-ways hot and sexy man lovin. Of course Chassie does participate on occasion and even though I’m not a fan of the ménage, this works for me because all the partners are involved equally. There’s also an amazing 3-way love story unfolding here, full of undeniable passion, emotion and heaps of consequences which are all explored beautifully. And Yes theres a whole lotta spicy sex going on too, in just about every conceivable position/combination and location possible. Yeehaw! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfvZwyIQfKg1Xlp2SmXlS2rXJ6HzsvYYx7PF-Qya1Z8Eo_O14bTEoyz67KgPqmqewsT29XKWMQZ9Rulfq2c4wgwGVqv8XovI0JsVv3u37praB1QcKbub80U6cIraD2BZFaMfwa4EniXrQ/s1600/rough3some.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfvZwyIQfKg1Xlp2SmXlS2rXJ6HzsvYYx7PF-Qya1Z8Eo_O14bTEoyz67KgPqmqewsT29XKWMQZ9Rulfq2c4wgwGVqv8XovI0JsVv3u37praB1QcKbub80U6cIraD2BZFaMfwa4EniXrQ/s1600/rough3some.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Trevor and Chassie have been happily married for one year. Trevor loves his wife and life on the ranch is good but he’s never quite been able to forget about his old roping partner and he knows that sometimes Chassie can sense his longing. Trevor never expected to see Edgard again though especially after it became clear that he couldn’t be the kind of man that Edgard needed but now his secret Brazilian lover is walking right up the dusty driveway, looking as fine and sexy as ever and hoping to sort out their tangled past. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiSwd-rawVRiv3A1N70zBx4IDA8hTJOtjhh3Cl6Lssh8B4qI7BsHAWqePW82X_h6_ktfeF-VTim5Yh-Nheu5dpC-Ynzed3lQureAWJ8K24rogvg4cQq8ko5hViymXJdwwEwpz0UICKQkc/s1600/cowbr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiSwd-rawVRiv3A1N70zBx4IDA8hTJOtjhh3Cl6Lssh8B4qI7BsHAWqePW82X_h6_ktfeF-VTim5Yh-Nheu5dpC-Ynzed3lQureAWJ8K24rogvg4cQq8ko5hViymXJdwwEwpz0UICKQkc/s1600/cowbr.jpg" /></a>With the kind of sparks that are flying between this pair of cowboys it doesn’t take long for Chassie to catch them together (and damn those first mergers are aggressive and scorching hot) Chassie thought she knew everything about her husbands chequered past but this is really pushing things. However before she can come to terms with the fact that Trevor and Edgard were lovers she has to face the fact that she might just be losing her man because its not just lust she see’s in their eyes its unbridled love too. </div><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Trevor promises he won’t leave but she doesn’t want him to stay out of any sense of duty, she knows he’d be forever missing his Latin cowboy and she’d be living half a marriage. So Chassie does the only thing a girl could do in this kind of situation she asks if she can watch them together and then she joins them. Of course for this arrangement to succeed theres all kinds of issues to work out and they are slightly worried about what the townsfolk are gunna think down at the local feed store but the more time they all spend together the more passion and raw emotion comes to the surface. Trevor and Edgard finally feel complete and damn if Chassie doesn’t too.</div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJWvWmsZcyV29wcMFuBTZurpjubb79CWFanLkyHI5xzm6tO3_8h_RV7z5qX3D7P47je9fyR3vzrnH_z2lmea1ABs9tDQCE_x9-MIIsTDQiAkhO6wY7NLjTqJTIirYOJyLllo2MG0McKow/s1600/rodeh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJWvWmsZcyV29wcMFuBTZurpjubb79CWFanLkyHI5xzm6tO3_8h_RV7z5qX3D7P47je9fyR3vzrnH_z2lmea1ABs9tDQCE_x9-MIIsTDQiAkhO6wY7NLjTqJTIirYOJyLllo2MG0McKow/s1600/rodeh.jpg" /></a></div>Buggy's Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03779796661323474012noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8141836292925142332.post-48446151813721886202012-04-12T00:15:00.001-07:002012-04-13T15:36:55.794-07:00~REVIEW of Devyn Quinn's SINS OF THE FLESH~<div class="leftContainer" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Book"><div class="leftAlignedImage"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjANAG67LGrITM502urdgHYYhC3gJpDCqbI1Si1GQKWnk_OUhEEl_53hRxmLWI01Zkddxmp62EX4hxHqjg4gz2hB9WYLGm8UzfOji-4kMEE5HcD3hZsfqzkK1p2SmqV-nfMN_30Xdv4BFE/s1600/Sins.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjANAG67LGrITM502urdgHYYhC3gJpDCqbI1Si1GQKWnk_OUhEEl_53hRxmLWI01Zkddxmp62EX4hxHqjg4gz2hB9WYLGm8UzfOji-4kMEE5HcD3hZsfqzkK1p2SmqV-nfMN_30Xdv4BFE/s320/Sins.jpg" width="217px" /></a></div><div class="hreview"><span class="item"><span class="fn"> ~INCONSISTENT BUT ORIGINAL EROTIC VAMPIRE ROMANCE~ <br />

Devon Carnavorn is bored with his immortal existence. He's also lonely having lost his creator and love of his life Ariel, a hundred years before. The orgies and endless string of nameless, faceless partners are wearing him out. However being a Sexual Vampire or 'Kynn' Devon needs the energy and connection obtained from the sexual act to survive. So what's a gorgeous, undead nightclub owner to do? He's considered suicide, walking into the sun would be quick and easy but he's never quite had the courage for his final act. Instead Devon coasts through decades of multiple partners both male and female in a vain hope that one day he will find his other half, his 'she-shaey'. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTMz7t9iUJMx82Y5eZ4C9TlM9goW_8tfuKuwLIao4gy5Pu19nw2Jd1agNww5aE_jKrhbwWkIpCGXcvzk9Vr6f4yi9BKaQHv7ETbcIJGdL5Xw_gqWmcme7VEpXQ2ka6Bu2MYUEq2YcrNZo/s1600/sin11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTMz7t9iUJMx82Y5eZ4C9TlM9goW_8tfuKuwLIao4gy5Pu19nw2Jd1agNww5aE_jKrhbwWkIpCGXcvzk9Vr6f4yi9BKaQHv7ETbcIJGdL5Xw_gqWmcme7VEpXQ2ka6Bu2MYUEq2YcrNZo/s1600/sin11.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Just when it seems like he can't face another night the lovely but down on her luck Rachel walks into his Goth nightclub and applies for a waitressing job. Devon is immediately entranced and, Bonus, she bares the birthmark denoting her to be his other half. He wants her like no other, he wants her for eternity but he's going to have to play it cool; he can't scare her away and will defiantly have to ease her into his alternative lifestyle. Unable to keep his eyes off her as she works, Devon stares down from his office windows and visits her as she sleeps, having ghostly dream sex with her willing body. He even swears off woman, now having sex only with his protégé Julian. Devon then tries to woo Rachel with roses and gifts but she's not having it. <br />
<br />
Rachel's had a hard time of late; she's just lost her business and is flat broke and this Goth scene isn't really her style. The uniforms are too revealing and the patrons too wild. She's only taken this job to get out of debt. Rachel has also been burned one too many times in love and even though she immediately desires Devon wanting him, fantasising about him while in the bathtub. She also has a rule she won't date the boss. <br />

</div>I enjoyed this book. It has an interesting story line and the characters and situations are detailed and well written. It's also quite romantic for erotica and contains a touching love story. The initial sexual encounter between our heroes doesn't take place until well into the book which I appreciated, reader foreplay if you will. The sex scenes are explicit though and for the most part dark with just about anything your into being done including; massages and sponge baths, mastrubation, bloodletting, multiple partners and male on male. So it's sure to please all...or some. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_tvKoika_5celafOJKGNHugjgtktY9EBqhVQYULVLZy9rhe6xXsUDI8IQNHXTeAoy630vOlJAhs1GTI0sOnVnpDKNhQd0Du8jWlugjCIibz2NOVTLg74ZZ8frbzlWAgP8KDwsxbI4AbI/s1600/sexy+couple.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_tvKoika_5celafOJKGNHugjgtktY9EBqhVQYULVLZy9rhe6xXsUDI8IQNHXTeAoy630vOlJAhs1GTI0sOnVnpDKNhQd0Du8jWlugjCIibz2NOVTLg74ZZ8frbzlWAgP8KDwsxbI4AbI/s1600/sexy+couple.jpg" /></a></div><br />
However SINS OF THE FLESH wasn't without its faults. Devon as the hero is very inconsistent in his behaviour. At times he's nervous and bumbling and in the next event becomes a masterful alpha male. Rachel has also been written as shy and nervous then turns into a bit of a gutter mouthed tramp. She's also way too trusting. For instance after waiting well over a hundred years for Rachel, courting her and now unable to live without her Devon surprises Rachel by inviting her to an orgy then tells her she must choose; if she loves him she will have sex with a lot of strangers and if she leaves she can never come back, its over. There's also a really strange scene in a public park involving a knife which would have had me screaming and putting up a fight instead of saying okay cut me, I trust you even though I don't really know you. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf7ZS_wV8leDo2nTq7g5iObCWZ5Xt1XGTKpDN2KXtQxBYedtnrHuqezD0-3n2R_z7ILgOxILgObns4LOTBU1ow3_3iKQowu1xNskCOZUIObC5cZYACfdEdD5jj_Y2EWTXAJAx5ws5cRUY/s1600/sin5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf7ZS_wV8leDo2nTq7g5iObCWZ5Xt1XGTKpDN2KXtQxBYedtnrHuqezD0-3n2R_z7ILgOxILgObns4LOTBU1ow3_3iKQowu1xNskCOZUIObC5cZYACfdEdD5jj_Y2EWTXAJAx5ws5cRUY/s1600/sin5.jpg" /></a></div><br />

<br />
There are a few Lover Reborn spoilers in the signing Q&A.<br />
<br />
I think I pulled a muscle jumping out of my seat, screaming and high-fivin’ my neighbors after that first question. <br />
<br />
Qhuay’s book is next year’s HARDCOVER BDB BOOK...not novella....BOOK!!!! :) When pressed about the name of Qhuay’s book, JR joked that it would NOT be called Lover Goes Down (hahaha!)<br />
<br />
Bonding scent if for ONE person....but that doesn’t mean Tohr can’t love No’One and be with No’One for the rest of his life.<br />
<br />
JR cried @ the end of Lover Reborn.<br />
<br />
JR made hand motion of feeling/holding balls when explaining why she was too busy to think about graphic novels right now. <br />
<br />
Murhder will come out soon and be a part of this world, but she doesn’t know if it will happen but ...she just doesn’t know when. <br />
<br />
JR wonders if Sympaths is going to be the third party that reunites BOB with the Brothers. She thinks that would be interesting...and she can kind of see that. <br />
<br />
Thank fucking GOD. There will be NO threeway with Layla Qhuinn and Blay and in the next book. We all gave this question asker major sideeye for asking....JR said she must be “fucking nuts” and did the question asker want her to be killed (JR). But I am actually so glad the question was asked because we received confirmation that that’s a big fat NO :) <br />
<br />
But we COULD have a 3way in Qhuay’s book, she joked....I can’t tell if she was serious or not. Something about size not mattering? with regard to a 3way? I didn’t quite get that.<br />
<br />
Assail fascinates JR. She thinks he’s very hot :)<br />
<br />
She doesn’t know if we will meet Butch and Manny’s father. <br />
<br />
JR again confirms there will be books about Trez & Iam (do these people not read previous signing threads???). JR says people will be mad about Trez’s mate...It’s controversial. <br />
<br />
We will get a new induction into the Brotherhood soon, but she confirms that it will NOT be John Matthew. <br />
<br />
She’s too busy with the books to do much with the movie stuff, and who the heck would play them? But her TEAM is encouraging this with her...they want her to at least TRY<br />
<br />
Pretty much confirms that Layla and Xcor will get together. JR gave an...oh it’s so obvious DUH! kind of answer to this question...without actually using the word “yes”....does that make sense? That’s why I say... “pretty much” <br />
<br />
JR won’t comment on Saxton right now. <br />
<br />
Again confirms that Lassiter gets his own book. She still doesn’t know which series it will be (BDB or Fallen Angels). <br />
<br />
On the SV? “Bitch needs some psychiatry” LOLOL! <br />
<br />
at the previous Fallen Angels signing, JR said something was going to make us very upset in Tohr’s book. JR confirms...it was the Layla/Quinn sex. That’s what she knew would piss us off. <br />
<br />
On where is the SV? When will we see SV? Wrath is the most important vampire to her...so if Wrath is in danger? That’s going to bring the SV back. <br />
<br />
We WILL see Eddie back. And she wants him coupled up :) But something major is going to have to happen to bring Eddie back. <br />
<br />
JR would love for Jose De La Cruz and Butch to see each other, without Butch wiping his memories afterwards. At a previous signing, JR said just the opposite. I like this new idea better. <br />
<br />
Mating ceremony is about marking while a fading ceremony is about mark eradication. Hot poker used during fading ceremony makes a pattern and seal on TOP of the mating ceremony mark. The combination of the two becomes a mourning pattern. When Tohr mates Autumn, her name will go UNDER Wellsie’s name. And that mating ceremony WILL happen. No’One works so well for Torh because being #1 isn’t important to her...rather, she values most being with Tohr in the present and coming full circle with him. Those are what’s most important to No’One. Anyone that would be mated with Tohr would need to understand they would never get in the way of Wellsie. <br />
<br />
When pressed about movie/tv deals again, JR joked that she was thinking of the SPICE channel :)<br />
<br />
Where’s Qhuinn’s brother? we WILL find out in Qhuay’s book. She again hints that he might not come back as a vampire. <br />
<br />
She can see a Zsadist subplot in Qhuay’s book....but she hasn’t outlined their book yet, so don’t hold her to that...<br />
<br />
She explained her cryptic Facebook video, about the next book making her so nervous. She is dreading and super worried about writing Qhuay’s book because expectation is so very high. It will open up as a tear jerker. Something super game-changing and profound happens at the beginning of Qhuay’s book. Qhuay’s book begins right at the end of Lover Reborn. Me speaking: She wants us to treat it Qhuay’s book like the other BDB books and not have insane expectations). <br />
<br />
When someone wants to know if we’ll get new characters, JR says she’s careful about not adding too many characters because she won’t be able to give them enough attention. But she thinks we’ll get new characters after the BOB era.<br />
<br />
when will Jane and V get mated? Answer; Jane and V are technically already mated. It’s a year later now...so JR needs to figure out how to show us that. <br />
<br />
JR has an idea but will not reveal....the favour SV demanded of Wrath in Dark Lover. IT WILL come to play in later books. <br />
<br />
Layla Quinn Xcor dynamics? not so good. Xcor has never had a family; Layla’s going to change his world. But it’s not going to be overnight! <br />
<br />
On Layla: “She wants to bang the guy that wants to kill the king!” LOL! JR makes an eharmony joke :)<br />
<br />
JR’s favorite Lover Reborn scenes were funny moments with Lassiter (she named a few good ones). She also liked the scene with Autumn looking at the field of snow...and that shadow comes out? And she really loved some of the sex scenes, too :)<br />
<br />
People need to believe that with HEA’s, it’s not always good, but the couples will always be husband and wife. Tohr’s story broke this rule. So JR was nervous. But she believed it and felt good about it in the end. <br />
<br />
Tohr’s son is up in the Fade, and she doesn’t want to leave her son. Tohr will have to wait until he dies to see his son. JR doesn’t see Tohr wanting more kids and going there again. he kind of has Xhex and of course (JM). <br />
<br />
No more Layla feeding everybody with her pregnancy! Her Chosen sisters are going to have to step it up and fill in more. <br />
<br />
Regarding Throe’s sister: Fade ceremony doesn’t have shit to do with whether you get into the Fade. That’s more to help you, personally, move on. So the idea that you can’t have a “fade ceremony” if you commit suicide? is bullshit. <br />
<br />
Lots of Marissa in Rhage & Mary’s baby novella.<br />
<br />
How is Xcor going to handle Throe love triangle with Layla? Duh. not well.<br />
<br />
when asked about whether we would see more battle women, JR says she can see a training class of both men and women, together, coming through. (goes back to Wrath changing old traditions)<br />
<br />
More visions from Qhuinn? JR jokes, in a sexy voice, that he will have tons of visions (eluding to sex with Blay of course) :)<br />
<br />
she won’t answer whether JM/Qhuinn/Blay will be inducted TOGETHER. But she does add, look to Qhuay’s book on that. <br />
<br />
you can have valid matings, even with SV being present. <br />
<br />
on “did Tohr love No’One before he loved Wellsie?” When they 1st met, they were both in bad places. Tohr’s dad had kicked him out; newly transitioned. She had just been raped. He was very emotionally involved with No’One before she killed herself. Concerned about her health, etc...Her burial was tough on him...Was it romantic love? JR doesn’t know. But JR thinks that if No’One hadn’t killed herself, Tohr & No’One would have probably moved in that direction....But Tohr was promised to Wellsie, met her and fell in love. Basically....with more time together and different circumstances (no suicide)...the answer could have been yes.<br />
<br />
She won’t answer whether Qhuinn and Blay will each put the other’s name on their backs during their mating ceremony. She wants to save stuff for us to read about.<br />
<br />
The score in Fallen Angels is STILL 2 to 1, even though Mathias is coming back. Once you score, you score; there’s no taking back points. <br />
<br />
For Fall AND for Spring (Fallen Angels and BDB books) , there will be 2 local signings for each on back to back weekends. (there were nearly 1000 books signed today...some people who came later in the day, but before the signing began...couldn’t get their books signed). JR doesn’t want that to happen again. One of the 2 Qhuay signings WILL be at this same B&N Cincinnati, OH store. She hopes she doesn’t end up with 1000 people 1 weekend and no one the next weekend :)<br />
<br />
It makes JR sad to think of Saxton having to rewrite old laws to make Qhuay possible. It’s going to be very hard on him; Saxton really does love Blay. <br />
<br />
Q: “How did Xhex & Murhder meet? Did they meet because Murhder is Revh’s cousin?” JR only heard the 1st part of this question (shit). She won’t answer Q on how Xhex & Murhder hey met; but it’s a good Q. <br />
<br />
Wrath going blind? Sorry, but that’s kind of what happens with inbreeding in royal lines. Recessive genes magnified. Wrath is really going to want to know about the color of his child’s eyes...JR almost tears up discussing that. <br />
<br />
who is 4th of original brothers? is it Murhder? Answer: Maybe. And good spot to end Q&A. <br />
<br />

To say that this was good is an understatement. To say that it knocked me on my ass and left me a drained, emotional wreck, is far closer to the truth. Yup, LOVER REBORN did me in, talk about your gauntlet of emotions, I mean I expected some angst but jeez! I cried (I mean really cried) I laughed, I sighed, I swore, I groaned and I gasped but in the end I also smiled. </div><br />

Was he ready? Were any of us really ready to let Wellsie go? And most importantly could Ward make me believe in this new love? The answer is a resounding yes, I think in part because it doesn’t happen quickly (or easily) Reborn has been broken into 4 sections (1 per season) so that this book takes place over the period of a year. And it was over that year and all the shit that goes down (and oh does the shit ever go down) that Ward made me believe.</div></div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Starting where <em>Lover Unleashed</em> left off and with her usual flair Ward throws us into <strong>“Spring”</strong> and right into the action and pain that is Tohr. Chasing down a group of Lessers, Tohr is now relentless in his pursuit of the enemy, basically only drawing breathe to “ahvenge” his murdered wife and son. Tonight’s hunt sees Tohr launching himself off a bridge as John and Qhuinn watch helplessly from below, John issuing a silent scream as Tohr falls. And so it begins. Through 572 pages Ward proceeds to give us everything we want and then some… </div></div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating"><br />
Without going into spoiler territory (which is going to be hard) I can tell you of course that this is Tohr and No’one’s story. These two have a long history together and are both equally broken so it makes sense for them to get together. Lassiter is helping to move them along on the love train (in his own way) and as it turns out with a sense of urgency. John and Xhex also play key roles in their story, giving us some absolutely filthy-hot love scenes as well as showing us a marriage in transition. </div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRTtYrDWNsEQz2Gs6YGTgqKBH_b6UIAfRhBW1j-tgkJkWNdFnPW0KTW9h53PFMuOLsrUp0v8rKQGrSb9yStrndRSJodSBO7-r2hNEq_uNvhUsOj3c_mquGTn2HTzbtBN_ZT8tocyAeuwg/s1600/tohr7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRTtYrDWNsEQz2Gs6YGTgqKBH_b6UIAfRhBW1j-tgkJkWNdFnPW0KTW9h53PFMuOLsrUp0v8rKQGrSb9yStrndRSJodSBO7-r2hNEq_uNvhUsOj3c_mquGTn2HTzbtBN_ZT8tocyAeuwg/s1600/tohr7.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Xcor and his Band Of Bastards are back and gaining strength in Caldwell. They do things here that… can never be forgiven. Sending one Brother on a mission under a decree of death. New and mysterious characters are introduced (Assail) while others are fleshed out (Throe and Zyphor.) We’re still all mixed up in the whole hot-mess that is Layla/Qhinn/Blay/Saxton; however that’s all about to change:) The Blind King still kicks ass, Ward throws a “needing” (or two) our way and gives us details of a ceremony that absolutely broke my heart. We also bare witness to a battle that gave me heart palpitations for all of its 60 pages and left some Brothers with life threatening injuries. <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div></div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjkayUBTD5J_xRHyLgt_b1yHc8Yr_laNhfQfG-PKh3O40HVm5ZPy3xd5RN32_Y1iBP62emKEUtI8aYdAsVIMkdR0G0EntLE1XRQCoToubK4ZN8C0UTZpQqoAwWPI-PmNrvvAfd5Sc5AfA/s1600/Vbdbv.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjkayUBTD5J_xRHyLgt_b1yHc8Yr_laNhfQfG-PKh3O40HVm5ZPy3xd5RN32_Y1iBP62emKEUtI8aYdAsVIMkdR0G0EntLE1XRQCoToubK4ZN8C0UTZpQqoAwWPI-PmNrvvAfd5Sc5AfA/s1600/Vbdbv.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> Somehow through all this Ward also manages to give us time with each and every member of the Brotherhood mansion. We get to see everyone doing their thing, giving us some special moment with each of them and that in itself says something because there are so many characters now. There also aren’t any “lesser” POV’s to suffer through; we don’t travel back to the old country or to the other side to hang with the chosen (verily.) And I have to compliment Ward on toning down the product placement and Wardisms. This book just flowed beautifully. </div></div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
In fact I would have to say that Ward has hit her pinnacle with Lover Reborn. The balance here is just right; the romance, the action, the surprises and the healing. I honestly never knew where this was going to go and when that happens you’re guaranteed a great ride. <br />
<br />
And now for the good news Blay and Qhuinn have been officially announced as book #11! That’s right the wait is over. It looks like Ward has worked a miracle with her publisher because their story was originally to be a novella and now they’re getting their very own Hardcover instalment. Way to go boys. See you Spring 2013. </div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating">"Thats right, buddy.<em> Our future has come."</em></div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe4-W9HkJ4RCvScgeRfWWeBpewu8_UHrbUU93sQQ8hvvqQzLQTEOLusTlnPZqVyD48OIeN1lVeeu9Dhvwb9r4rFObjXlhu1dOR50EMQzYhvPHaJKmMFayPWw_K83-0J_sFiXJo0reRz_U/s1600/Blay2.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe4-W9HkJ4RCvScgeRfWWeBpewu8_UHrbUU93sQQ8hvvqQzLQTEOLusTlnPZqVyD48OIeN1lVeeu9Dhvwb9r4rFObjXlhu1dOR50EMQzYhvPHaJKmMFayPWw_K83-0J_sFiXJo0reRz_U/s1600/Blay2.bmp" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgY4Vs9gs7msTVNDQ0N5cY3ZOMFJHA_oy5tLXLsyqtUqL6EW6TeN-9hIn460JJK2EOxA4TOVvEloD6PpaMtRyWAmYJMVRW15Vze3jOAENZ1JVKPUnvMZ9QhudZhAdJLXYWZDLqEiwUuSI/s1600/Quinn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgY4Vs9gs7msTVNDQ0N5cY3ZOMFJHA_oy5tLXLsyqtUqL6EW6TeN-9hIn460JJK2EOxA4TOVvEloD6PpaMtRyWAmYJMVRW15Vze3jOAENZ1JVKPUnvMZ9QhudZhAdJLXYWZDLqEiwUuSI/s1600/Quinn.jpg" /></a></div>Buggy's Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03779796661323474012noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8141836292925142332.post-76720791007249608052012-03-31T01:43:00.000-07:002012-03-31T01:43:42.803-07:00~REVIEW of Catherine Mckenzie's SPIN~<div class="leftAlignedImage"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJascCoFoBkR7UudFaw-eokhq8p5tu-V8IWRgIxlfS6q2B_ZYVgxwSvC1ouLwqzztOAoUxs9sdUWRTTaT4_7PmaYnOpdpiJMyOjcCot1m_KPhw64ciOcb7HqFqjfIebKk0jpc6UxatbDA/s1600/Spin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJascCoFoBkR7UudFaw-eokhq8p5tu-V8IWRgIxlfS6q2B_ZYVgxwSvC1ouLwqzztOAoUxs9sdUWRTTaT4_7PmaYnOpdpiJMyOjcCot1m_KPhw64ciOcb7HqFqjfIebKk0jpc6UxatbDA/s320/Spin.jpg" width="205px" /></a></div><div class="hreview"><div itemprop="reviews" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"><div class="grey500Box"><div class="grey500BoxBody"><div class="grey500BoxContent"><div><div style="clear: right;"></div><div class="rating" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating"><span class="value-title" title="5"></span><img alt="5 of 5 stars" height="15px" src="http://d2cnulzsnzwz8f.cloudfront.net/images/layout/stars/red_star_5_of_5.png?1332371801" title="5 of 5 stars, it was amazing" width="75px" /><br />

<br />
This was a fantastic read and from a new Canadian author no less. Totally relatable, addictive and hilarious, I had trouble putting this one down. It's written along the lines of Sophia Kinsley’s <em>Confessions of a</em> <em>Shopaholic</em> series or as I mentioned <em>Bridget Jones's Diary</em>, I also had flashes of <em>Girl, Interrupted</em> (if the loony bin were rehab) And yet despite all the comparisons Spin still manages to have a unique feel to it. <br />

</div>Peppered with pop culture references from movies, TV and music there's even a chapter by chapter playlist included at the end. I also just love books that are written the way we girls actually think, you know with random disjointed thoughts and crazy insecurities. And how much fun is it to follow a heroine who isn’t perfect? Kate, well she’s a mess so it was an absolute blast stumbling along with her while she finds herself. <br />
<br />
Kate,(Katie, whatever) Sanford has just landed the job interview she’s been dreaming about her entire adult life, (other than writing for Rolling Stone that is.) It’s an interview with her favourite music magazine The Line. It’s also Katie’s 30th birthday which is all the more reason to celebrate, right? I mean what harm can meeting her friend Greer and having one little drink do? She’ll still get home early enough to be clear headed and fresh for the big interview tomorrow. Well as most of us know there’s no such thing as one drink (especially with friends like Greer.) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGGQSWff3Zix9N-p3TNsaj5MBWPdTWPCVH19W79zOPxWkWYex9e55mL_7tFtYIxa81TzIH0lLiOwy9Nv54or8-qpziWuyKnNejX0HyqiVRfL-TF4bpNcnkKyQcyleoz7NU9wYDOLssiDg/s1600/spin6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGGQSWff3Zix9N-p3TNsaj5MBWPdTWPCVH19W79zOPxWkWYex9e55mL_7tFtYIxa81TzIH0lLiOwy9Nv54or8-qpziWuyKnNejX0HyqiVRfL-TF4bpNcnkKyQcyleoz7NU9wYDOLssiDg/s1600/spin6.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Katie’s botched interview is hilarious, she’s late arriving, still a bit drunk and concludes the meeting by excusing herself to throw up and lie on the restroom floor. Needless to say she doesn’t get the job. She is however just perfect for another assignment they have in mind; entering a 30 day stint in rehab to spy on the new “it” girl of the moment and writing a 5,000 word expose for their subsidiary gossip magazine. (Should she succeed the job she actually wants will also be waiting for her.) It’s a no brainer really, at this point Katie has burned almost every bridge she can and has nothing left to loose, besides its only for 30 days. <br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Kate’s observations from rehab while somewhat heartbreaking still retain the comedy. Her experiments with jogging had me laughing out loud as did the descriptions of her dog obsessed counsellor. Of course there’s a romance in bloom and hey what do you know she might just have a drinking issue after all. At the very least Katie needs to grow up and stop telling people she’s still in college or at least partying with college kids. The rehab section of the story is predictable but that doesn’t make it any less fun to watch the train wreck and cheer from the sidelines. The ending reads like a Hugh Grant movie and I loved it. Cheers</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<br />
Jillian Kincaid is a TV anchor and the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Because of her father she grew up in the continual presence of bodyguards and hated it. Now when she begins to receive death threats Jillian is more then a little hesitant to except the bodyguard/hired thug that her father has secured for her. <br />
<br />
Recently retired special Ops soldier Nolan Garrett has only been out for three months when his brothers and sister (of E.D.E.N security Inc) grow tired of his continuous drinking and depression and force him to take on one of their clients. He doesn't want the case and Jillian sure as hell doesn't want him in her apartment and shadowing her every move.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWx-IKBXt7I0Zb9q9uyNKpap-NhxZgDfUqqNX47C7lHTpGTzeAnMp3ckXcAXRQcwsL5bXuoqoYFwj6-2OuW1dhXp5veRukyInHZW2lNORcoDiLPwmzGcVzLdo7oceB44QeVT98vSJzexA/s1600/stro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ida="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWx-IKBXt7I0Zb9q9uyNKpap-NhxZgDfUqqNX47C7lHTpGTzeAnMp3ckXcAXRQcwsL5bXuoqoYFwj6-2OuW1dhXp5veRukyInHZW2lNORcoDiLPwmzGcVzLdo7oceB44QeVT98vSJzexA/s1600/stro.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">However Jillian soon proves not to be the spoiled princess Nolan was expecting and despite himself he starts to care even if she is super frustrating. Why won't she just leave him alone, why do they have to talk about...stuff? And how is it that she's not repelled by his back off, tough guy (I am an island) image? As Jillian's stalker gets closer and events turn deadly Nolan is willing to lay his life on the line and now possibly his heart too. Gah I just love these tortured heroes.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>After 5-star-ing every book in Cindy Gerard's Black Ops series I was very excited to go back and read her <em>Bodyguard series</em> which I'd somehow missed before. However in saying that I think my love for her BOI's may have caused me to go into this with (unrealistically) high expectations because while this was good it never quite hit the great mark that I'd been expecting. <br />
<br />
TO THE EDGE is definitely a slow burning romance And while I appreciated tough guy, bodyguard Nolan's <em>"don't get involved with a client"</em> ethics and especially his <em>"you don't want to get involved with someone as damaged as me"</em> (love those tortured heroes) I reached the point with them where I was like, enough, get it on already. Stop with the meaningful looks and double talk and just get it out of your systems. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf4iB27kmH8td4ghsnqEYSA-Ao_PBjC53HN8C2bnnFCz18AL1_ZWrzmIwEFZeAorGJy8vyj5liufF7sXv056Y-YBaec636CcK-1el7iZ2LYyTbBkQDLCP5YUQc6E-GjgjBK4LGzGRP4Ps/s1600/to.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ida="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf4iB27kmH8td4ghsnqEYSA-Ao_PBjC53HN8C2bnnFCz18AL1_ZWrzmIwEFZeAorGJy8vyj5liufF7sXv056Y-YBaec636CcK-1el7iZ2LYyTbBkQDLCP5YUQc6E-GjgjBK4LGzGRP4Ps/s1600/to.bmp" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>That said once the sex (finally) got thrown in the mix and the stalker upped their game things really took off. Gerard managed to keep me guessing about the stalkers identity with several well placed suspects and Nolan and Jillian's chemistry was smoking hot. I also loved the fact that Jillian wasn't your typical spoiled damsel in distress and let's face it she had potential to go that way. Instead she fought for her man and managed to keep her head above, TSTL. Then we have Nathan's adorable (I don't need anyone but really I do) guilt complex, PTSD issues and that fantabulous ending on the boat, sigh. I really don't have anything to complain about here and I'll definitely be returning for the rest of this series and a croquet game or two from the looks of things. </div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Buggy's Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03779796661323474012noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8141836292925142332.post-17951753939137513002012-03-23T14:21:00.007-07:002014-02-26T16:49:50.541-08:00~REVIEW of Marie Sexton's PROMISES~<div class="leftAlignedImage">

<div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody">
PROMISES is a slow burning romance but that just made it all the better because we get tons of sexual tension and character development. Watching these guys going from friends to lovers over an extended period of time felt realistic. The love scenes also seemed accurately portrayed, nothing gratuitous just for the sake of a sex scene and initially with lots of fumbling and uncertainty before they got down and went for it. I liked both Matt and Jared and really felt as if I’d gotten to know them both despite the fact that this is written exclusively form Jared’s POV, Matt is equally accessible here due to some great writing. Marie Sexton was a new author for me but I will definitely be looking for others in this series. </div>
<div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody">
<br />
As I said this is told from Jared’s POV, he’s lived his whole life in a small Colorado town and while openly gay he doesn’t flaunt his status either. In fact one might say he’s even closeted refusing to become a teacher for fear of bigoted parents and jeering teens. Nope, Jared is content to while away his days in his family’s hardware store, meeting up a couple times a year with his fancy man to scratch the itch and never expecting anything to change. Well it does the day Matt Richards struts into the store. He’s just been hired by the local police department and the two strike an immediate friendship. Spending their weekend’s mountain biking, camping and watching football. Matt is straight and doesn’t care what the townsfolk are saying about them spending so much time together, he does however make a point of dating one of the towns flooziest women just to set things right. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody">
<br />
Jared is of course in love with Matt from just about day one and wishes there could be more. On the other hand he doesn’t want to risk losing Matt’s friendship either, so he just puts all horny thoughts out of his mind (for the most part) And that’s when the sexual tension comes in; the meaningful looks, the light touches, the massages, the hand in the hair, the fact that he never wants to go home. Hmmm maybe Matt is willing to take this friendship to a whole other level? <br />
<br />
Yeah this was super good, lots of complicated situations and interesting secondary characters and a just a great story. I was really rooting for these two because the odds were stacked against them. Funny in the end it was Jared who had the most issues with being in a committed gay relationship not his hetero partner. Bah, labels who needs them. Cheers.</div>

Now Spock goes back to the planet Sarpedion and using the mysterious time portal meets his 5,000 year old son. Time travel is so much fun, anything is possible. And while this is way out of the realm of what I usually read, I have to say that I enjoyed it. It’s a well written, clever story, capturing the essence of the original series perfectly while giving us a peek into the minds of our favourite characters. <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkqAj81bc4ITTCuJLfwaNytoocPjvJvh9QUac4pK5M9boBQq3JVPpfNBncFD__iiv1hxXtB88vP_AQ1dGk0YDyeQhEQ0KRRzpPrs88ZMnpgMZAtS4KywtWjmau2L6AWr9WMlSsNuqBU6Q/s1600/alll.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkqAj81bc4ITTCuJLfwaNytoocPjvJvh9QUac4pK5M9boBQq3JVPpfNBncFD__iiv1hxXtB88vP_AQ1dGk0YDyeQhEQ0KRRzpPrs88ZMnpgMZAtS4KywtWjmau2L6AWr9WMlSsNuqBU6Q/s1600/alll.jpg" /></a></div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody"><br />
The author obviously knows her Star Trek, managing to include mention of several other episodes along the way which will have Trekkies smiling. There’s a good amount of action involved here including a strategic space battle with the Enterprise outnumbered by the Romulan fleet Go Scottie! and some good old fashioned hand to hand combat too. We also get a ton of Vulcan history - is there like a bible of this stuff somewhere? <br />
<br />
All the characters are represented in one way or another, remaining true to form. Kirk in all his Captainly awesomeness, Bones who is less grouchy then I remember, taking on a more father like role here and Spock who I honestly didn’t like very much. His character is cold, heartless condescending and frustrating. Yeah I know he’s Vulcan and emotionless but he’s also an a-hole. We also get a glimpse of some doomed red-shirts and spend just enough time with Scotty, Uhura, Chechov and Sulu to make it feel like a real episode. <br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4BXrc1OEzYJ0-Q-ZWinsIs9JzRWrts-iQebVtvgAbrF8AuP8k2D2wXtoEwv4X6Tbw4ymEQRTJGL5AURjkmc_EJPuKhsAIuHMEozPqQX4OAsgmdUc18A1I7C8wJCkwXiseOtvjUVCT3Ew/s1600/all2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4BXrc1OEzYJ0-Q-ZWinsIs9JzRWrts-iQebVtvgAbrF8AuP8k2D2wXtoEwv4X6Tbw4ymEQRTJGL5AURjkmc_EJPuKhsAIuHMEozPqQX4OAsgmdUc18A1I7C8wJCkwXiseOtvjUVCT3Ew/s1600/all2.jpg" /></a></div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody"><br />
Speaking of Sulu, he has one of my favourite lines from the whole book which is only ironic now 20 years later. He and Uhura are discussing how much Zar and Spock look alike <br />
<br />
<em>"Have you ever looked into Zar’s eyes?” Uhura leaned forward a little, lowering her voice. <br />
<br />
“No--other men’s eyes don’t do anything for me, I’m afraid” Sulu grinned.</em> <br />

From the very first page I was hooked, I mean how could you not be both intrigued and freaked out by passages like this … <br />
<br />
<em>“Tiny fingers. So small. So very, very small. The fingers pressed under the front door of her home were so very small. She couldn’t stop staring at those baby fingers straining frantically to reach her as she stood shivering on the porch.” </em><br />
<br />
Jeez, and it only gets better too. Fast paced, scary and gore filled, Rhiannon Frater has created an imaginative and haunting new world here and I wasn't ever entirely sure where she was going to go with it. She never lets the pace up either; every chapter has some form of chaos, action or horror involved. Probably because this was first written as an online serial (later self published and now released by Tor books) There’s also hints of humour (mostly in the absurd) romance, and a multitude of new and interesting Zombie personalities. Old granny zombie comes to mind, still clutching her very much alive cat as it tries to claw its way free from her arms.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVlgewF6gAHBAJX02Qw9wUi7ClmmSNMHgA2ZBW5ccZc4BcIkyFQvmvrVJPW2pDHUkWjer5_tEna82lOtkG9HFHvKkdEzRTNJ8Vy7Et5jZxds5FbIxw_CkJ1nmiMG8Fee_2BjcKSMaeDMs/s1600/first5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVlgewF6gAHBAJX02Qw9wUi7ClmmSNMHgA2ZBW5ccZc4BcIkyFQvmvrVJPW2pDHUkWjer5_tEna82lOtkG9HFHvKkdEzRTNJ8Vy7Et5jZxds5FbIxw_CkJ1nmiMG8Fee_2BjcKSMaeDMs/s1600/first5.jpg" /></a></div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
Both the main characters are unique and interesting. Jenni is pretty screwed up and had a tendency to be all over the place (huh?) but I still found it refreshing to read about a zombie apocalypse from the female perspective. (Think Thelma and Louise meet George A Romero) All the secondary characters they contact along the way (living and dead) leave lasting impressions too and I can’t wait to continue on with this trilogy. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKvnJG4VskhgSR6SFUEowDlAB0PIvTPaPwQkqX66gFtL1EXqsM0OwiRkFoEB9AJAdaNuWRY0KV7zJN7Wj9RnzLox6uH1JDYMwZTzU0_yRnvEJBAPiACwkyRtB51tothxv_u2Z4GkfWO98/s1600/first6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKvnJG4VskhgSR6SFUEowDlAB0PIvTPaPwQkqX66gFtL1EXqsM0OwiRkFoEB9AJAdaNuWRY0KV7zJN7Wj9RnzLox6uH1JDYMwZTzU0_yRnvEJBAPiACwkyRtB51tothxv_u2Z4GkfWO98/s1600/first6.jpg" /></a></div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
The story begins with those tiny fingers; they belong to Jennie’s baby who, along with her young son has just been eaten by her abusive husband. All three have risen, transformed forever into ravenous zombies. Just as her husband manages to break through the living room window a truck pulls up, the female driver yelling at her to get in. The driver is Katie, a former prosecutor who has just lost her wife but somehow in the mayhem managed to secure a truck, a weapon and a dog. The two form an instant bond and hit the road, trying to get out of the infested city. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiXOyr1J9BU0LpkPPrlUBAcn-m73cxrdF8PU7snDbLHlwxQg1YBjmlEtRLiVoguWwoRxC94YRF3EA-xveXOv51aVJs3JOHjc2pu4iu3FPNhqt0G_H44a1e2V5wGuiIP8r01QhTY_hV2V8/s1600/first4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img aea="true" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiXOyr1J9BU0LpkPPrlUBAcn-m73cxrdF8PU7snDbLHlwxQg1YBjmlEtRLiVoguWwoRxC94YRF3EA-xveXOv51aVJs3JOHjc2pu4iu3FPNhqt0G_H44a1e2V5wGuiIP8r01QhTY_hV2V8/s1600/first4.jpg" /></a></div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
With no real plan Jenni suddenly remembers that she has a stepson away at camp so they head out to rescue him. Throughout this read our characters kept having revelations; like sexual orientation or how many members are in the family. This was somewhat annoying but at least it kept me guessing. Before long Katie and Jenni discover the joys of watching zombie heads explode, how the rules (established in the movies) don’t necessarily apply and to what means their world has changed forever. <br />
<br />
They eventually meet other survivors; a husband and wife team holed up in a gun store and a large group of refugees building a walled fort in a small Texas town -where the girls decide to settle. Here we meet Travis and Juan, the love interests and leaders who set about establishing a new safe community while the dead scratch endlessly at the outside walls and the survivors slowly begin to turn on each other. Cheers<br />

Welcome to Larissa Ione’s utterly imaginative world of Demonica. Full of demons, vampires, shifters, weres, slayers, humans and every combined half version of them. PLEASURE UNBOUND is a great ride I just couldn’t put down; action packed, erotic and sinfully dark with witty humour and engaging, fresh characters. Including a kick-ass heroine and her uber-sexy, scrub wearing Demon love interest. It’s the perfect combination of paranormal romance and urban fantasy and it’s oh so good. <br />

</div>The underlying moral here isn’t unique; what if your entire belief system was destroyed by getting to know and spending time with your enemy? What if you discovered that they weren’t the evil incarnate you’d been led to believe but in fact were no different from yourself? That they had families, jobs and problems and thought YOU were the evil one. And what if it then came to be that you were actually one of them? <br />

I would also highly recommend this to fans of the <em>Ward’s BDB</em> who will see several similarities between the sets of “brothers” with their tortured pasts, sacrifices for each other and continual bantering. THE DARKEST PLEASURE is book 3 in the fantastic and addictive Lords Of The Underworld Series and this time it's is all about Reyes, an immortal warrior cursed after opening Pandora's box and ever since bound to the demon of pain. As in past books this is an ensemble piece, involving the continuing stories of past immortals and their now mates, as well as those Demons yet to have their stories told. Rather than distracting I found all these characters only added to the story in a very `Brothers' living in the mansion kind of way. I love the bantering between the warriors who at the same time respect each others torturous curses. This dysfunctional family unit continues to change and grow, all the while maintaining their constant search for Pandora's Box and fighting off the ever threatening `Hunters.' </div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW3AcKEu4Az0pWt4UGEmFUGZpGIGRDy66zKoY7e9-exYLxbI4aizWSdVvoTazvkGyaUvLnAbRJx4YM7w4PazGsYU0jqgTBKUxkuRUnVZZFbdGp3DHLJIlO6z7QMDF_dhcUiAZgKesoFE4/s1600/DAM_058_D018_00193_JTrv1_gallery_main.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="248px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW3AcKEu4Az0pWt4UGEmFUGZpGIGRDy66zKoY7e9-exYLxbI4aizWSdVvoTazvkGyaUvLnAbRJx4YM7w4PazGsYU0jqgTBKUxkuRUnVZZFbdGp3DHLJIlO6z7QMDF_dhcUiAZgKesoFE4/s320/DAM_058_D018_00193_JTrv1_gallery_main.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody"><br />
Reyes is kinda sexy but he's been cursed with the demon of pain. To avoid hurting others (and feel some pleasure himself) he must satisfy the demon by either releasing it during a fight or self inflicting pain. I.e. cutting or stabbing himself, although he has also been known to jump off the roof of a building just to feel his bones break and hear the demon purr. Reyes was introduced to Danika Way back in <em>The Darkest Night</em> and he's never been able to forget her. She unfortunately was targeted by Cronus the new King of the Titans and along with her family sentenced to death. To make matters worse it was Reyes's best friend Aeron ordered with upholding the death sentence and the longer he's kept from this task the more bloodthirsty his own demon Wrath has become. In fact Aeron's become so crazed that he's been locked in the dungeon where he's trying to chew off his own hands to escape the shackles. Meanwhile Danika remains on the run, now separated from her family she fears that they may all be dead and in an attempt to find and protect them strikes up a deal with the `Hunters' allowing herself to be used as `Bait' against the immortals. Once inside the castle walls however her resolve starts to fail. Something draws her to Reyes, this man who warms her skin and haunts her dreams. He has shown her nothing but safety and kindness and she has come to desire him, demon and all. Reyes in turn is pretty much useless, unable to concentrate on anything except getting Danika into his bed and keeping her safe from the bloodthirsty Aeron. Now if only he could figure out where Danika's loyalties lie and why Cronus wants her dead they could all live happily ever after. <br />
<br />
This was a great read and anyone invested in the series won't be disappointed. Besides the love story there are some excellent sub-plots. (Paris's story is getting progressively heartbreaking *sigh*) My only regret here would be the surprisingly mundane love scenes. Given the subject materiel I guess I expected a little more, I mean pain=BDSM right? Unfortunately (or fortunately?) Reyes wants to keep things gentle and not exploit Danika's dark, kinky side. At times I also felt bogged down with too much Greek Mythology and history but all the same can't wait to read the next instalment. What a great conclusion to this trilogy. It isn’t often that you get the story after the HEA and I really appreciated being allowed back into Evan and Matt’s relationship to see how things were working out for them. As is often the case their story which began in (FAITH & FIDELITY) left us with a lot of loose ends and here we are given a very complete conclusion to their romance. It was also fun to see Jim and Griffin again (LOVE & LOYALTY) and I loved the surprising and open friendship that developed between all the men. <br />

It feels wrong however to classify it as erotic just because of the occasional bit of bum lovin, I mean I’ve read that in mainstream romances too so?... Ah yes issues with labels, I think that’s what this whole book is about. Anyways Tere Michaels is also brilliant at writing multidimensional characters, including the secondary ones and I feel like everyone involved here is now a personal friend of mine. This is a fantastic series and I hope to be reading something (anything) from Ms Michaels again soon. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>Matt & Evan, how much do I love these guys? It was so great to go back and revisit them and their evolving relationship. Surprisingly I did come away with a different feel to both characters then I did after reading F&F. Evan pissed me off quite a bit here and I actually felt sorry for Matt and his new househusband status, even though it appeared to be what he wanted. Their relationship still felt unequal, with Evan calling all the shots and Matt not receiving much in return. This would of course be the conflict that slowly gets resolved. <br />
<br />
Theres not really much of a plot synopsis to give, we join Evan and Matt in their new house, Matt has taken over the role as househusband and Evan continues on with the police force and struggles with issues of labels and people knowing he’s in a same sex relationship. The return of Jim Shea pushes Evan’s jealousy buttons but forces him to face the facts and then of course theres Griffin who becomes a surprising ally and good teacher too once Evan gets over his own stereotyping.<br />

Now this is the Lora Leigh that made me a fan. Erotic romance at its best; Steamy, graphic love scenes mixed with action and suspense. Written in 2004 (when she still used an editor and cared) and before her storylines became repetitive, ridiculous and made sense. <br />
<br />
ELIZABETH'S WOLF was my first Breed book and even though its the forth in the series, stands alone just fine and had me captured from the very beginning. <br />
<br />

Growing up alone and on the streets without friends or family Dash eventually finds himself in the military where he is trained to kill. After a horrific helicopter explosion in the Middle East that kills his entire unit Dash is slowly recovering in hospital when his commanding officer begins reading letters to him from a young girl back in the states.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">She is Cassie Colder and something about her letters calls to him, something about the girl and her widowed mother makes him feel possessive and protective almost immediately, forcing him to recover faster from his life threatening injuries. When the letters abruptly stop Dash learns that Cassie and her mother Elizabeth have perished in a fire. In his heart he doesn't believe this to be true and hires a private detective to look into their situation. Learning that the two are actually on the run from the twisted, evil man known as Grange, Dash makes it his personal mission to protect them and claim them as his own. His mate and his child. </div><br />
Months later Dash tracks down Elizabeth and Cassie and rescues them from another would be attacker. Cassie accepts him immediately but Elizabeth although fascinated is weary because she hasn't been able to trust anyone in a long time and those that have helped her in the past have died in the process. Having no choice however, Elizabeth allows herself to be rescued by Dash who whisks them away to a safe house where they can all begin to heal and recover. As Dash learns more about why Grange really wants Cassie his worst fears are realized but as Elizabeth comes to trust and love him he also knows that he will stop at nothing to protect what is now his. <br />
<br />
Even though our heroes don't make love until nearly halfway through the book this is one hot read. Dash tells Elizabeth from the beginning that when she's ready he will have her and she accepts this knowing that there is no way to fight the growing attraction she feels towards this gorgeous alpha male. Ultimately the anticipation, the knowing looks, and gentle caresses, the reader foreplay is almost hotter than the actual act. <br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The sex scenes are graphic and so explicit that at times I was uncomfortable. Still this is a good, strong story full of action, intensity and family bonds. Dash's loneliness is heartbreaking but Elizabeth's character is written strong, she is a worthy mate who completes him. The scenes between Dash and the precocious Cassie are also well written and very sweet. Several breed characters (I'm assuming from past books) turn up for the exciting climax which comes together rather abruptly and finishes too quickly even though all the loose ends are tied up</div></div></div></div></div></div>Buggy's Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03779796661323474012noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8141836292925142332.post-90283882078607304622012-01-19T00:16:00.000-08:002012-01-19T00:20:44.696-08:00~REVIEW of Lynda Hilburn's THE VAMPIRE SHRINK~<div class="reviewText mediumText description" itemprop="reviewBody"> <br />

Dr. Kismit Knight is a respected Denver Psychologist who doesn't believe in the paranormal. She especially doesn't believe in Vampires. Kismit's character has been written like a real person, not your average romance heroine, she could be you or me and that's what makes it so great when she stumbles into the Vampire world. It could also be you or me. <br />
<br />

The girl frequents a Goth club and has a crush on the owner, who she claims is a Vampire. She in fact wants to become one of the undead. Kismit of course thinks she's crazy but decides that this Vampire culture would be a great idea for a book. Kismit puts an ad in the newspaper promoting herself as the "Vampire Shrink" hoping to gain valuable research material. What she doesn't count on is meeting Devereux. The 800 year old, wealthy and extremely gorgeous club owner. After a two year drought in her sex life Kismit finds herself inexplicably drawn to him even though she thinks he's delusional for indeed claiming to be a Vampire. Through a series of misadventures and blood drained bodies she also finds herself spending time with FBI profiler Alan Stevens. Enter the love triangle. </div><br />
Throughout this story we get to hear Dr. Knights running internal dialogue and it's awesome, especially after she learns that Devereux can read her mind. <em>"Yes I desire you as well" he whispered into my mind.</em> <br />
<br />
The climax takes place at a Vampire ball on Halloween night. With a gruesome multiple-personality antagonist named Lucifer out to kill Devereux and drain Dr. Knights blood. It also finds FBI man Alan dressed as Gary Oldman from the movie Dracula. This is a hilarious book, full of sassy sarcasm and cool wit. It is also quite sexy. With both love interests more than suitable as romance material. <br />
<br />

Highly recommended for fans of sexy Vampires, sexy FBI men, sarcastic wit, paranormal romance and an all around good read. I'm looking forward to reading (DARK HARVEST) next to see where the series takes us. <br />

<em>"I choose fictional creatures for 500$ Alex." </em></div><em>Propping my feet up on the chair that'd been recently vacated by the firm hindquarters of the cutest FBI agent I'd ever seen, I raised my coffee cup in a solitary toast to the memory of his tight jeans exiting my kitchen and loudly vocalized the theme song from the TV game show Jeopardy. </em><br />
<em><br />
I put on my best Alex Trebek voice. "These bloodsucking undead denizens of the night have taken over the rational minds of the populace of Denver" I pretended to push an invisible button on the table. <br />
<br />
"What are vampires?" imitating Alex again <br />
<br />
"Yes our new winner is Dr Kismit Knight formally a respected psychologist now a permanent resident of Denver Psychiatric Hospital" <br />

With this 6th instalment Cindy Gerard doesn’t disappoint either because we finally get Doc’s story and it's oh SO good. <br />
<br />
I knew this fun loving cowboy medic would steal my heart I just didn’t expect to fall quite so hard or be given such candour into his fears and “ghosts”. Who knew that behind that sexy smile and sense of humour he was suffering so much? I loved getting to know the real Luke Colter (Indy fedora and all) and watching him find purpose with the woman of his dreams (literally). <br />

WITH NO REMORSE is filled with non-stop action, adventure, passion and clever writing. Gerard whisks us away to yet another exotic South American location where we engage in shootouts, train robberies, kidnappings, explosions, donkey rides, the occasional pesky potato and some wicked arms dealers as our bad guys. <br />
<br />
The romance is sweet, steamy and believable and with the entire wise cracking team showing up at about the half way mark I couldn’t have been happier. Yup, everyone makes a reappearance for the final show down including the ever lovable Johnny Reed, my boyfriend Gabe, Crystal and BJ (who kick serious ass) and even team leader Nate. It was fantastic catching up with everyone and seeing them in action. I should also mention that we get an intriguing look at Joe Green here and jeez does his upcoming story LAST MAN STANDING (*sigh* last in the series) ever have me excited. <br />

We join our man Luke on a train in Peru. Its about a year since he was injured in the last book RISK NO SECRETS and he’s just coming off a much needed reprieve. Luke's body may be mended but his head still isn’t in the game and for the first time in his career he’s doubting his ability to still function as a valued team member. When bandits board the train and attempt to kidnap a “young boy” Doc’s training takes over, forcing him reluctantly back into hero mode. <br />
<br />
With the bad guys in full pursuit it takes about a minute for Luke to realize he hasn’t rescued a boy but the woman of his teenaged fantasies. Just what the hell is supermodel philanthropist Valentina doing on a train in the middle of Peru? And who are the armed and very pissed off men hunting them down? More importantly though is how exactly is he going to not come across like a bumbling, star crazed stalker as he attempts to get her to safety? <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjV7mWGAASdWe1CCGwfLaK6JOD1uuOzz0a1DXpH6m5kk8cwUrSDJwVB-OD5-k01RMLY9DV7MaS3RbiMFt6_euXqGxrlq4U4x1udjgI4vebuLuauZ0heZIaXKltGhEJIAN5nez3sKe_2vw/s1600/with+no.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" kba="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjV7mWGAASdWe1CCGwfLaK6JOD1uuOzz0a1DXpH6m5kk8cwUrSDJwVB-OD5-k01RMLY9DV7MaS3RbiMFt6_euXqGxrlq4U4x1udjgI4vebuLuauZ0heZIaXKltGhEJIAN5nez3sKe_2vw/s1600/with+no.jpg" /></a>I liked this romance a lot. Valentina although beautiful (she looks like Angelina Jolie, puleese) had a great back story and when it came right down to it was able to man up and well… save her man. Together they had some fantastic moments evoking such memorable lines as <em>“You had me at potato”</em> and <em>“We’ll always have Peru”</em> I also loved that she called him Indy (the fedora was awesome and gave a nice visual aspect to Doc) Of course then there was the tear jerking secret goodbye at the limo, and damn that man knows how to grab a reader where it hurts. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>I can’t say enough good things about this series, it captured me from book 1 SHOW NO MERCY and never let go. Each instalment is excellent; with hot alpha men falling hard for their lady loves. These guys are funny, endearing, good in bed and manage to give us quite a few sigh worthy moments while still packing a big gun and kicking major ass. The storylines are always exciting, expertly written and with a nice balance between the action and romance. I never find myself going “yeah right” with this series its just always amazing. Cheers <br />

I guess I should mention that I haven’t seen the movie (what! I know) so I knew nothing about the storyline, not that that would have influenced me I just went into this blind. </div><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">And, well I wish I could say I loved this (since that would make me one of the cool kids) but honestly the best I can come up with is under whelmed. Of course the writing is wonderful and it really is laugh-out-loud funny in places but I also found myself alternating between skim reading because the story wasn’t going anywhere and all the 80’s pop music references and top 5 lists got to be a bit much and being in absolute awe. Rereading and marking numerous passages because they were just genius, describing exactly how I felt/feel. I should also mention that the music references are somewhat dated now and anyone under the age of 40 will be scratching their heads especially if you live in America as this involves British Indie bands and pop music. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

</div>I think one of the main problems for me is that our protagonist Rob isn’t a very likable character. It was hard to have any sort of compassion for him or for that matter to even want to read about him and I actually found myself preferring any of the sections that placed him with other people because when we were alone in his head being all introspective I got bored. Rob is immature, selfish, self-absorbed and depressed, stuck in a job, apartment and relationship that have all gone stale. He has zero self confidence yet at the same time is so full of himself that he expects everything to revolve around him, which of course it doesn’t and this in turn makes him lash out at his friends, parents and girlfriend to feel better about the state of his life. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioDXY2EH-MsuYDnqytvhuuGnpWuDvuIZYbDIDRa2XcTSo3fWD2qlIMEkCtossNYSRO6qr5NPsvySpcJJ_AkpTEyP0BWQ0toDrC-JnXIqOiA1IMQ8EEULaBufM-T4bXpfo3p7WWv6HWhyphenhyphenY/s1600/hiifi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" dda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioDXY2EH-MsuYDnqytvhuuGnpWuDvuIZYbDIDRa2XcTSo3fWD2qlIMEkCtossNYSRO6qr5NPsvySpcJJ_AkpTEyP0BWQ0toDrC-JnXIqOiA1IMQ8EEULaBufM-T4bXpfo3p7WWv6HWhyphenhyphenY/s1600/hiifi.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Rob is a bit of a loser; a thirty-something music junkie he spends his days running a near failing record shop and reminiscing about the 80’s when he was semi successful DJ. Rob’s life has stalled and he can’t see a way out so he compiles top 5 lists of his favourite bands, songs, episodes of Cheers etc, insults his equally lost friends and plots ways to kill the guy who lives in the flat upstairs and stole his girlfriend. Along the way Rob manages to grow up, (some) and realizes change might not be so horrible. Cheers</div></div></div></div></div>Buggy's Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03779796661323474012noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8141836292925142332.post-15745981954632193072012-01-06T12:33:00.000-08:002012-01-06T12:33:19.466-08:00~REVIEW of Evangeline Anderson's THE ASSIGNMENT~<div class="leftContainer" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Book"><div class="leftAlignedImage"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAAkOD90Oh_vXTIWSihq8WP7v8gu3aToAqd0ryldXZ5nI9oz0DBEjD0c921dwleajeBOZmN8PAJYPpDcPkJ2rMcfyR_q1q6knovODCjgTH56GEvGDaGyGBgAZyf9xYglsfDW43Tgkb846_/s1600/assignment.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" kca="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAAkOD90Oh_vXTIWSihq8WP7v8gu3aToAqd0ryldXZ5nI9oz0DBEjD0c921dwleajeBOZmN8PAJYPpDcPkJ2rMcfyR_q1q6knovODCjgTH56GEvGDaGyGBgAZyf9xYglsfDW43Tgkb846_/s320/assignment.jpg" width="206px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Set in the early 1980’s (which kept me visualizing Starsky and Hutch and hoping for descriptions of Magnum-esque moustaches) THE ASSIGNMENT is a su-weet read. Just long enough at 161 pages and certainly steamy enough, I can see myself returning to this story again and again. Filled with suspense, random humour, genuine emotion and sexual tension so palpable it just about killed me, Valenti and O’Brian are a couple so deliciously hot and manly that you simply won‘t be able to get enough of them. Plus with cover art this good how can you go wrong?<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Detectives Nicholas Valenti and Sean O’Brian have been best friends and partners for 6 years. Often teased because of their open affection, they’ve got each others backs on or off duty. Through danger, donuts and divorce there isn’t anything one of them wouldn’t do for the other including taking a bullet or giving the occasional back massage. That’s a good thing too because Captain Harris’s latest case is going to test the boundaries of even their tight relationship. </div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilhVDSPSuNdGOKySpvK9owdKvz-5KskqMPgD3NXZeriEDwJbXzW8YaOgSp3OdmvYIydl531FZHWYXe5qckrAzwkb2kyv7GPBGUonQFUJrsDjjxbaebLo7xXkKUJFHyQPjD_QD7-OBj6PM/s1600/ass.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: right; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilhVDSPSuNdGOKySpvK9owdKvz-5KskqMPgD3NXZeriEDwJbXzW8YaOgSp3OdmvYIydl531FZHWYXe5qckrAzwkb2kyv7GPBGUonQFUJrsDjjxbaebLo7xXkKUJFHyQPjD_QD7-OBj6PM/s1600/ass.bmp" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Nick and Sean’s assignment sees them going undercover at the infamous gay resort, Ramjack. Potentially they will be busting the notorious drug dealer who’s been flooding the cities gay bars with bad cocaine. It’s a plum job that’s going to look real good on their resumes, just as long as these hetro boys can convince everyone at the RamJack they’re really a gay couple that is. But just how far are these partners willing to go? </div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>Once engaged in their roles as the "sugar daddy" and his "boy toy" the sexual heat literally jumps off the pages. Forced to ‘fake’ their affections in public Valenti and O’Brian’s discovery of each other though soft caresses and first kisses is beautifully done. And because Sean and Nick don’t start out as gay characters watching their miscommunications, emerging feelings and unfamiliar foreplay unfold is also interesting and exciting. Because of the way most men are, when the gentle embraces carry over into their private suite they don’t talk about their feelings or what’s happening between them, they just continue to misinterpret each other and wonder… The sex scenes here are erotic, tender and very satisfying. Eventually Valenti and O’Brian are left to deal with strong emotions neither anticipated having and a very straight world to go back to. <br />
<br />
My only real disappointment would be the abrupt resolution to their big case. Its just over. However because I was still in shock from the previous events it just didn't matter. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwF_m1IaGRva3JYbt6hHW-WelVkA7-GCmevRFqbmylmQEkN4ijDcDA5AbVLFG3edR0Tp2Fgzn2V3E0dsEaJTmnyLup2nuqIogfZ69h4GPElNff1Jf9x80zE5PwdK9FUSpll_2t5Ze262M/s1600/asst.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwF_m1IaGRva3JYbt6hHW-WelVkA7-GCmevRFqbmylmQEkN4ijDcDA5AbVLFG3edR0Tp2Fgzn2V3E0dsEaJTmnyLup2nuqIogfZ69h4GPElNff1Jf9x80zE5PwdK9FUSpll_2t5Ze262M/s1600/asst.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>A bonus 26 page short story called I’LL BE HOT FOR CHRISTMAS has also been included here. This takes place a year after the RamJack case and involves Valenti suddenly pulling away and distancing himself from an increasingly sexually frustrated and pissed off O’Brian. Could it have anything to do with his new and much younger partner? Sean becomes determined to find out what’s going on even if that involves kidnapping. "HOLIDAY HEAT contains 2 loosely themed Christmas stories by a pair of my favourite erotica authors who together give us the perfect little bit of escapism during that time of the year when you need to avoid the family and beat the winter blues. Both stories felt complete (at approx 130 pages) and definitely took me away to a sexy, warm place just when I needed it most. On pure “heat” factor alone I preferred Dane’s story (it was kinda kinky) although Burton’s story is equally good as it takes us to sunshine and white sand beaches. <br />

He’s always on the lookout for the next big wave or next great deal so while home for the holidays he jumps at the chance to build one of his famous hotels right on the Florida beach where he grew up, the only thing standing in his way is Greta. Divorced with 2 children Greta is struggling to make ends meet at the run-down beachfront motel she inherited from her father. The motel means everything to her and no amount of persuasion or money could force her to sell. Knowing that Mitch is trying to coax her into selling Greta agrees to several dates with the sexy tycoon, she figures why not? As long as she goes in eyes open why not enjoy some fancy dinners, limo rides and moonlit walks on the beach? However Mitch no longer considers Greta business. She makes him think about things he’s never considered before like a home and family. Suddenly Mitch finds himself doing the coaxing for entirely different reasons. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

8 years ago Charity and Gabriel had a terrible one night stand that both would sooner forget the problem is neither of them can. Charity wonders if it was her fault things went flaccid and wants to try again. Gabe just wants to avoid Charity altogether, because in his mind she’s a decent, respectable girl who’d never be up for the dark, dirty things he wants to do with her. Once the tequila shots and lustful stares start flying though its only a matter of time before this pair lands back in bed and this time its entirely possible Charity’ won’t be the woman Gabe thinks she is. I mean what’s a little candle wax and whips when she’s found the man she wants to marry? <br />

AVRC is my first Robyn Carr book which would make me...you guessed it, a Robyn Carr virgin. Anyways, this isn’t the type of contemporary romance I usually read (I like a bit of action, suspense or the occasional vampire in my mix) However the Virgin River series is so hugely popular and was recommended to me by a ton of people so I just had to check it out. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUGB9Zb6YJJjvOqfRrPYoNmFYcUrNfH-DXZZOmjczHJtT2YyUT2EUlzr01da8DrMM-qhT9SL6dQLLsn0wda3o_XuqebKKcK1DSCxRfENtSonSLIYgjXDS-OfZiFWs4_U5e4hNT3RCNAeA/s1600/virg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUGB9Zb6YJJjvOqfRrPYoNmFYcUrNfH-DXZZOmjczHJtT2YyUT2EUlzr01da8DrMM-qhT9SL6dQLLsn0wda3o_XuqebKKcK1DSCxRfENtSonSLIYgjXDS-OfZiFWs4_U5e4hNT3RCNAeA/s1600/virg.jpg" /></a></div>...And I’m happy to say that except for the author’s unusual fixation with an outhouse I got sucked right into this heart tugging romance. Enough so that I didn’t want to read anything else when I finished and have gone back to start the series at the beginning. <br />
<br />
Yes this is book #4 in a series of 13 (and counting) however that doesn't seem to have any bearing on this particular story (I think because it’s a special Christmas edition). Sure there were a few characters I might have enjoyed more if I’d know their ‘story’ but this stood just fine on its own and centered pretty much solely on Ian and Marcie’s heartbreaking journey of love and healing. <br />
<br />
The best word I could use to describe Robyn Carr’s writing is comfortable. It’s just relaxed and easy and felt like I was reading about friends or I imagine if you’re well into the series like coming home. Carr never once had me shaking my head thinking that’s wrong or ridiculous or the H/h would never do that. The story flows very well too, is funny in parts and heart wrenching in others and except for letting the outhouse become a character of its own, left me wanting more. I feel like Carr could become the sort of author I’d pick up when nothing else is striking my fancy and know that I’d enjoy it. <br />
<br />
Marcie Sullivan is looking for closure; she’s come to Virgin River to find her husbands Sergeant and best friend. The man responsible for saving Bobby in Iraq and giving her three years to say goodbye while he slowly died from his battle injuries. As Marcie cared for her husband she forged a friendship (through letters) with his sergeant Ian, pouring out her heart, frustrations and sadness to a man she’d never met. Then suddenly the letters stopped and soon her husband was gone too. Now a year later Marcie still can’t seem to move on with her life, she’s decided she has to find Ian. To talk to him about what happened over there and make sure he‘s okay. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipHg9xahIP9_zGofYZOe8-2770JvhXLd_Lh-JCokgDrJCAOdBgqRHKoruSqMNEppNfWRDYRMej5u81wVhUXT91d8I4paplsVECUjwbZpnSe_3o-uNSauAomTqhdbQUjzxG_nYYOFyAo9g/s1600/virginn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipHg9xahIP9_zGofYZOe8-2770JvhXLd_Lh-JCokgDrJCAOdBgqRHKoruSqMNEppNfWRDYRMej5u81wVhUXT91d8I4paplsVECUjwbZpnSe_3o-uNSauAomTqhdbQUjzxG_nYYOFyAo9g/s1600/virginn.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
But locating Ian hasn’t been easy, nobody’s seen him for years and his family has all but written him off. After following several leads Marcie at last finds her hero but he doesn’t want to be found and definitely doesn’t want to be reminded of Iraq. Ian’s living far off the grid of society, a recluse in a rundown cabin in the woods with no amenities. Yes that’s right an…outhouse (dun dun dah) Ian Growls at Marcie to leave him alone, sounding much like the bear he now resembles what with all that hair but Marcie refuses to go until she completes her mission. Of course this leads to her almost freezing to death, catching hypothermia and Ian having to save and care for her until she’s better (It is a romance after all) <br />
<br />
Marcie’s character is a bit of a goof and I really liked her and her adventures with living in a rustic cabin. I found it odd though that suffering a burn from not knowing how to light propane stove was hilarious while a flu/cold was a matter of life and death? I also didn’t find this quite as romantic as I’m sure others will as I have lived in the bush without power and it loses its appeal mighty fast especially in the winter. So while some might think it quaint that they cook on a woodstove, and read by candlelight, I cringed. <br />
<br />
Anyways you don’t need to know much else, all the townsfolk turn up in one way or another and Marcie and Ian forge into a new type of friendship, one with benefits. Oh and it all happens right around Christmas. Sigh.<br />
<br />

<br />
I have never read a book quite like this before. Robin Schone's style of writing is amazing. Extremely personal and without rush, with pages of deliciously drawn out foreplay. The intimacy of her words makes you feel as though you were right there in the room with our lovers. Voyeuristic, reader foreplay if you will. <br />
<br />
I was initially surprised that THE LOVER is a period piece, taking place in Victorian London but Robin Schone has done her homework and the attention given to the detail of the time is excellent. The clothing, and home trappings, the formality of the servants, and the constant reminders of ones status make for a well written historical novel.<br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The Lover tells the story of 36 year old Anne Aimes. A self admitted spinster who spent her coming out years caring for her elderly parents. After their death she is alone and feels that her only attribute is her vast wealth. Beneath Anne's virginal plain looks and grey streaked hair however lurks a passionate woman who yearns to know the caress of a man. For the period of one month and at a cost of ten thousand pounds Anne hires the services of prostitute Michel Des Anges from the house of Gabriel. </div><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Anne has admired Michel since she first saw him years before at a high society ball. but time hasn't been kind to Michel. His face and hands having been horribly disfigured by fire. Anne however isn't bothered by the scars, she still finds Michel attractive. He has the body of a god and those eyes, those violet eyes. What Anne doesn't realize is that Michel is tormented and driven by vengeance. In hiring Michel's services Anne has unwittingly become a sacrifice in his plans for revenge. As the wheels of retaliation are set into motion Michel begins to doubt if he can really surrender the one woman who still wants to touch him, the one that sees beyond his scars, the spinster he now loves. </div><br />

Jacob is the Demon enforcer for his people. His responsibility for the past 700 years has been to protect the human population from fellow Nightwalkers who fall victim to the maddening Moonlust. He takes his duties as enforcer seriously and over the years has even had to punish close friends and family members when they stray too close to humans. Because of this Jacob has become feared within Demon society, now an involuntary loner. One night while hunting a rogue Demon, Jacob inadvertently rescues a woman after she falls from her apartment window, landing safely in his strong arms. The attraction between the two is immediate, he cannot let her go. Has Jacob himself fallen victim to Moonlust? <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>There's something strange about this raven haired nymph. Isabella's not just your average human, for within minutes of being rescued she senses something and runs into a warehouse. Jacob follows and is rendered helpless as she proceeds to kill a Necromancer (bad guy) while it practices the black arts. Jacob, unable to believe what he's seen puts Bella into a deep sleep and takes her back to his castle where he'll try to figure out what she really is. When Bella awakes she isn't at all scared, just excepting and curious about this new world she finds herself in. She's apparently really horny too despite the fact that she's a virgin (why are they always virgins?) The couple can't seem to keep their hands off each other, even though this little collaboration will mean certain death for Jacob. Just as the intense make-out session reaches a precipice it is rudely interrupted by the demon king Noah. He also assumes that Jacob has gone mad with lust. Now who will enforce the enforcer? <br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Jacquelyn Frank has created a very detailed and complex world with this first book in her <em>Nightwalkers</em> Series. And although I really enjoyed the initial chapters as well as the exciting and romantic final chapters, the middle section seemed to stall. As the author filled in pages and pages of Demon history, rules and culture while Jacob and Bella just hung out in the castle having telepathic phone sex in each others minds. I just wanted to get on with it, for SOMETHING to happen. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

There were parts however that I loved and this is a good book, maybe just not great. It was nice to read a paranormal without Vampires and I appreciated the tightness and detail of Ms Frank's well written first novel. The secondary characters have also been well developed and left elusive enough for you to want to come back for another instalment. Cheers!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
